TMB HARVEST MOON
(Carrollton X Moon Magic)
1998 palomino mare, 15.0

Luna joined the herd at Brookridge as a result of my search for a quality palomino mare to breed to Adiel's Casino Gold, who we had here on lease the winter of 2001-02. Luna was started under saddle by her breeder, Lynn Burch. She is very calm and sweet, and an absolutely incredible mover with lovely extension.

Luna's sire is the well-known palomino stallion Carrollton, who has won championships at such prestigious shows as the New England Regional and who has sired a number of winning colorful Morgans. Luna's dam is the Senator Graham granddaughter Moon Magic, who is also the dam of the winning hunter pleasure mare Lady Sorento. Luna's first foal (by Casino), Moonbow, a cremello filly, was born on January 17, 2003 and is now owned by Elnoresh Morgans in Ontario.

Luna is now owned by Kathy Piccorelli of Amberly Farms in Katonah, NY.

This was taken the day we went to see Luna at Babylon Ranch, owned by Lynn and Steve Burch, in Clermont Georgia (November 2001). I really was so floored by her lovely movement that I did not want to stop to take pictures- I just wanted to WATCH her!

Luna and I going for a test ride at the Burch's. She tried very hard to figure out what I wanted. That is an Ortho-Flex saddle on her, which was neat because I had never ridden in one before. It was very comfortable!

Here is Luna playing the day after she arrived at Brookridge. Such a pretty trot! December 2001.

More playing. She has a lot of energy! Note the interesting spot on her side, just about where the flap of an english saddle would go. That is probably a large Bend Or spot. Bend Or spots (named for a famous racehorse who was heavily marked with them) are patches of darker hairs (black or a darker red than the body color) sometimes found on chestnut and chestnut dilute horses. Because hers is so big (and it continues under her belly- hard to see in these pix as it is in the shadow- and she has many smaller ones scattered all over her body and face) I think it makes her very unique! My vet will have fun drawing it on her coggins papers!

Trotting in the pasture with Maddy, February 2002.

Luna with Casino, the sire of her 2003 filly. You can see the large Bend Or spot on her side pretty clearly in this photo; she also has one on the bridge of her nose. Interestingly, her sire Carrollton has one like this on his face. March 16, 2002.

Luna has a very sweet expression. This was taken in November 2002.

She really has a fabulous trot! Also taken in November 2002- she is 9 months pregnant here.
